Kashmir National Education Trust

Address:  Rue Du Trone-115/3 B-1050- Belgium.

Kashmir National Educational Trust (KNET) is United Kashmir People’s National Party (UKPNP)” initiative as part of a strategy to eradicate illiteracy and ignorance in our region.

We are aware that there has to be change in order to address the very urgent needs of the Kashmiri youth, in order to prevent their exploitation by extremist elements. The majority of the people and especially the children are extremely vulnerable. Due to poverty and social deprivation they are being taken by the extremists’ organizations in the name of food and shelter. They are also being used by such elements against the values of a pluralistic society.

We believe that the only way to achieve meaningful and lasting change is to create alternative educational opportunities for our young people as a means of challenging and defeating fundamentalism and fanaticism in our state and throughout the south Asian region. That Party aims to deliver the vision of occupational based education in both  regions of Pakistani Administered Kashmir (Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan), and our goal is to obtain sufficient funds in order that Foundation’s network may be extended across Jammu Kashmir state by the help of the world community.

The Party aims to appoint national and international network of co-coordinators i.e. in London, Geneva, New York, Washington and North America as well as district and Tehsil level coordinators who will monitor and deliver this initiative at grass root level.  The role of the local coordinators would involve providing full information and monitoring reports to the national coordinator and they will then submit these updates to the International coordinator at Brussels. The International Coordinator has the responsibility to liase between the National coordinator and regional coordinators. Students have been selected from the primary and middle classes; the foundation will support their educational development/responsibilities until graduation.
