The United Kashmir People’s National Party (UKPNP) would be holding its last public rally and concluding public meeting in Muzaffarabad tomorrow. The local administration is creating hurdles in the way of public rally in the city which was announced a month ago. General Secretary of the United Kashmir people’s National Party Pakistani Administered Kashmir zone Mr. Zulfiqar Malik has called me from Muzaffarabad and told me that Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad and Assistant Commissioner is trying to pressurize Party cadre not to openly hold the rally in the city. They are asking Party leaders to do some program in press club or hold public rally without loud speakers.

They told our Party leaders that they have pressure from hidden hands in the capital city of the area.

The United Kashmir People’s National Party strongly condemns such tactics of the local officials on behalf of their masters and Pakistani security establishment.  Party central exiled Chair Sardar Shaukat Ali Kashmiri would be visiting in the European Parliament tomorrow where he will also participate in a conference and later he will meet Members of the European Parliament to discuss prevailing situation in the region and victimization of political workers at the hands of Pakistani secret agencies. Zulfiqar Malik has told me that local administration has engaged us in negotiations but we have clearly told them that our rally will be peaceful and we shall not bargain in this regard.

UKPNP leaders from Britain and Canada also condemned this act of establishment and declared a shame for the democratic government in Pakistan. In a statement Amjad Yousaf and Zahid Mehmood of UKPNP Europe zone said that it’s not the first time this type of tricks has been used by the local authorities which also have the green signal of the military establishment presence in the area as occupied forces. UKPNP public rallies, public meetings and workers workshop has been attacked and stopped by the authorities in the past as well. It’s also known that the banned militants groups are free to operate and held rallies in the area, meanwhile democratic and peaceful meetings and rallies of the pro-independence political parties are being high jacked. Usman Kiyani, UKPNP President Britain Zone also strongly condemned this act of the local establishment.

Issuing a statement from International Secretariat Jamil Maqsood said that it is irony that Pakistan didn’t learn anything from the past and asked party leaders, to continue rally peacefully. He said if Lashker E Tayyaba can hold armed rallies in our state then why we can’t do the same peacefully to tell our people the repercussions after math. Jamil Maqsood assured Party leaders in Muzaffarabad that if local administration or any other force would use force against them we shall hold demonstration in the Europe and everywhere.
