This meeting strongly condemn Government of Pakistan act not to issue travel documents (Passports, to the family of Sardar Shaukat Ali Kashmiri, Chairman of the United Kashmir People’s National Party and call it a serious violation of human rights.

Moreover, this meeting also emphasize on the Government of Pakistan, human rights organizations and also on the world community to compel Pakistan to full fill its obligations under United Nations resolutions for its peripheries. It demands that fundamental political, democratic, constitutional and cultural rights of the people of those areas must be revived.

PostHeaderIcon Passport denied to Kashmiri leader, despite orders

 Mr. Sardar Shaukat Kashmiri, chairman of United Kashmir Peoples National Party was residing in Switzerland after getting asylum in 2001 at the time of military dictatorship in Pakistan. His family, including wife and children, migrated to Switzerland in 2002 as the family re-union of accepted refugee. The passports of his family members expired in 2007 and the seven persons from the family applied for renewal in the first week of March 2010 as the mother of his wife was bed ridden.

An emergency meeting of the United Kashmir People's National Party (UKPNP), is held at Party's International secretariat in Brussels. The meeting was presided by Ishaq Khan President of United Kashmir People's National Party Belgium branch, while Jamil Maqsood General Secretary of the Belgian Branch has briefed the Party workers and office bearers regarding current situation of the region.
